Announcements for 8-25-24

Praise and Thank You- We are happy to report our brother-in-law, Ray Eberts is cancer free! Thank you for all your prayers and support throughout this journey.  ~Gordy and Sue Faber

Praise & Picnic Day – Sunday, September 8

Our church service will be held at Island Park (west of the swimming pool) on September 8.  The worship service will start at 10:30 am. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Lunch will be served after the worship service. There will be activities for all ages including 3-legged races, egg and spoon races, inflatables, bean bag tournament, cards, and yes even a TV so you can watch the Vikings game. We do need help with this event. Please consider helping us in the following capacity:

  • Help with serving the food – need 18 people
  • Help make the BBQ beef sandwiches at the church on Wednesday evening Sept 4. Roasts will be cooked. Help is needed to shred the roasts and prepare the sauce. Need 6 people.
  • Help make potato salad at the church on Thursday evening Sept 5. Recipe and ingredients will be provided. Need 6 people.
  • Help monitor the inflatables for 15-20 minutes. Need 6-8 people.
  • Borrowing us your bean bag boards and bags.  Need 15.
  • Helping that day with the games and activities. 

We would love your help. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center. Please save this date and we invite you to enjoy a beautiful day of worship and fellowship! ~A NEW CLASS STARTING IN ROCK RAPIDS, IA  

BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) will be starting a new ladies evening class.  The class will meet in the ATLAS fellowship room at 7:00 PM at 113 1st Ave.  You can register at mybsf.org where you will find the option of attending this new class.   If you do have any questions, you can contact Carole Bosch at 402-981-5019 or:   gmabosch49@gmail.com

Each year, Bible Study Fellowship groups focus on a different book or section of the Bible over 30 weekly sessions. Going chapter by chapter, verse by verse, allows members to better understand the text and gain a more thorough knowledge of, and relationship with, its Author — Almighty God.

 

~Youth wanted! The youth praise team needs 7th and 8th graders who want to sing, play guitar, bass guitar, drums, keys, or sound board.  We practice every Wednesday starting August 28th from 6:00-6:30 pm and lead worship once a quarter.  Sign up on Church Center or at the Welcome Center or contact Valerie Lenderink, frcmusic@premieronline.net, 314-637-8383

Church Happenings

~Bethel Reformed Church is hosting the 3rd annual Women’s Conference at Bethel Reformed Church in Lester, IA and we welcome the women of your church to join us! The event is Saturday, October 19th from 8:30-12:30 and is centered around the theme of God’s Character’ He is faithful. He is good and kind…even if, even when, even though. There is no charge for this event, but we do ask that you register at www.eventbrite.com and search for Bethel Women’s Conference 2024. Transportation is available from Rock Rapids to Lester. Contact Cherl Van Beek if you would like to carpool

Intro: 10 Commandments are instructions for how God’s people Live

  1. Fundamental Need as Humans
    1. Need to be Satisfied (I just want to be happy)

 

  1. Coveting is the unholy desire for something that you don’t have or own to satisfy you.  
    1. Believing anything other than God will satisfy.
    2. Original Sin (Forbidden Fruit)

Coveting is the opposite of Contentment.
